ALLNUTRITION SODIUM BUTYRATE SR is food for special medical purposes in the form of prolonged-release capsules that are a source of butyric acid, which is the basic energy material for the gastrointestinal epithelium.

The product is intended for dietary management in irritable bowel syndrome, gut flora disorders and intestinal infections, inflammatory diseases of the intestinal mucosa, functional gastrointestinal disorders (chronic constipation, bloating and abdominal pain, diarrhoea, indigestion).

A daily serving provides 600 mg of butyric acid which has anti-inflammatory properties and supports the functioning of the digestive system.

ROLE OF BUTYRIC ACID

The main function of butyric acid is based on its anti-inflammatory effects, which result from its ability to inhibit the secretion of inflammatory mediators in the intestinal mucosa. Additionally, butyric acid is the main energy source for cells in the large intestine (colonocytes), nourishing them and ensuring proper functioning. Moreover, it reduces the risk of intestinal barrier permeability, which affects the reduction of allergies and inflammatory conditions.

The use of innovative microencapsulation technology, in contrast to regular forms of butyric acid, protects against the absorption of the entire substance in the upper gastrointestinal tract, allowing the active ingredient to be delivered to both the small and large intestine. The release process takes place throughout the entire length of the intestine.

Butyric acid has many beneficial properties for health, including.:

What are micropellets?

Micropellets are small-sized microparticles in a capsule. Thanks to them, the substance from such preparations is released slowly and gradually, making it possible to achieve and maintain an optimum concentration of the active substance over a longer time. Unfavourable (and often unpredictable) fluctuations in the level of the active substance are then prevented, making the whole process of dietary supplementation very stable and effective.

Production of micropellets

The special cellulose coating used in the micropellets also protects the active substance. It is several dozen times thinner than a sugar coating, but plays the same role. It protects the active substances contained in the core against e.g. light, oxygen, moisture and provides the patient with comfort in taking the supplement by facilitating swallowing and masking the unpleasant taste of active substances.

In the case of fast-soluble coatings, it is not possible to achieve the so-called modified release of the active substance. The effect of modified release - delayed release (e.g. in the small intestine or slowed release along the entire gastrointestinal tract), which is decisive for achieving a prolonged effect, is possible only for coatings soluble in an alkaline environment or insoluble coatings, but with diffusion properties, i.e. for micropellets.
